Eurovision Song Contest 2015 – Symbolizing unity
2015 is a symbolic year for Armenian nation. Considering this factor Armenian Public TV Company had a special approach towards its participation in Eurovision Song Contest. For the Eurovision 2015, which took place in the capital city of Austria – Vienna, Armenia represented a completely new format with a newly formed music band – Genealogy.
Genealogy band consists of six artists with Armenian origin coming from five continents of the world and Armenia: the group became a symbol of unity. With one song and performance, Genealogy told our history to the world; told about everlasting unity of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora, about peace and love. It was obvious from our performance that though the painful pages of our history are not forgotten, the new generation of Armenians, spread all over the world, is positive and is true to our future. The new generation of Armenians told the world about Armenian history from the European stage.
Genealogy presented the song “Face the Shadow” composed by Armen Martirosyan, lyrics by Inna Mkrtchyan.
Armenia was the 16th at the song contest. The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was Sweden with Måns Zelmerlöw and his song “Heroes.”
