Genealogy’s First Press Conference
Genealogy - six artists of Armenian origin from five continents of the world and Armenia built a bridge with Armenian Media representatives on April 27 at their first official Press Conference in Yerevan, Armenia. Artists told their personal stories and backgrounds (6 destinies but 1 story), also shared their emotions and some details about their selection process and creation of Genealogy.
They shared the excitement about representing Armenia: “We just want to make all Armenians around the world proud.”
Journalists, photographers, bloggers and other Media representatives greeted them with applause as they entered the room. They answered questions about their preparation process for Eurovision Song Contest and highlighted some of their favorite entries. Genealogy member Tamar Kaprelian remembered Eurovision 1974 winner ABBA’s song “Waterloo” and performed a small part a cappella with the support of other Genealogy members.
During the Press Conference Genealogy commented on their tough rehearsal schedule and released some details regarding the stage performance: “It will be a beautiful show with minimalistic approach and rich graphics on the stage along with Armenian elements. As there are six individual artists with unique personalities, backgrounds and voices, the choreography will highlight our identities and characters.”
Answering the question about how well they get along as they have known each other for very short time, members replied: “From the first second of our meeting we were connected with the strong power of music. Our genetics and Armenian blood are the key factors that unite us not only as a music band, but also as a family. We are the Genealogy family.”
To the question whether Genealogy will remain a Eurovision project or it will continue its activities once the ESC is over the artists smiled at each other with a brief comment: “Our connection is growing stronger with time.”
Artists also commented on the meaning of song “Face the Shadow” and individually shared their understanding and the message of the song.
At the end, the band performed a small part of “Face the Shadow” a cappella. It brought a large wave of applauses and admiration.
